A woman was killed in a truck collision in Kailali and the locals set the truck on fire



9 Manseer, Dhangadhi. Tension has prevailed on the East-West Highway following the death of a woman in a truck accident in Kailali.

The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Goma Thapa, resident of Tikapur Municipality-2.

Bamdev Gautam, Chief Superintendent of Police (SP) of Far Western Provincial Police Office, Attaria, said that after the woman’s death, angry locals blocked the highway and set the truck on fire.

The truck has been damaged by the fire and traffic has come to a standstill since afternoon due to tension on the highway.

According to District Police Office Kailali, the relatives of the deceased have blocked the road by protesting. He said that despite clashes between the police and the local people, tear gas shells were also fired to control the situation.

However, the relatives of the deceased are demanding proper compensation and action against the culprits. Police said they have also closed Lamki Bazar.
