Announcing the closure of the school indefinitely from Sunday, the teachers and employees said that the government has not followed the decision of the increased staff and child development facilitator.

Trade union president and Mahadeveshwari Basic School teacher Kashiram Pathak said the agitation was called off after villagers agreed to provide enhanced services at an all-party meeting on Sunday morning. He said, ‘As per the decision of the government, we had announced an indefinite shutdown due to non-increase in salary. But after reaching an agreement, we have withdrawn our decision.

Village Municipality President Tek Bahadur Rokaya said that the municipality has agreed to pay the increased salary of school staff and child development assistants from August.

He said that due to the delay in the decision of the government to increase the salary, there has been a delay in preparing the budget of the Gram Panchayat. “It’s not that we don’t follow the government’s decision. But when our budget was ready in June, the government announced its decision in July,’ he said.

After the consent of the Gram Panchayat and the agitating teachers, the school is conducting regular classes. There are 34 secondary and basic schools in the village municipality.
