Army and Police draw 1-1 in A Division League

6 Manseer, Kathmandu. Tribhuvan Army Club and Nepal Police Club drew 1-1 in the Shaheed Memorial A Division League on Monday.

In the 51st minute of the match played between the two departmental clubs at Dashrath Stadium in Tripura, Santosh Hemrun gave the police the lead by scoring a free kick from Tej Tamang. But 10 minutes later, Vivek Basnet, who came as a substitute, scored the equalizer for the army. Vivek scored the best goal from outside the penalty line. Sena’s Tek Bahadur Buddhathoki scored in the 87th minute but the referee did not recognize him as offside.

After the draw, both the teams have added one point each. Regular forward Navyug Shrestha was ruled out of the league due to a knee injury and Sena put on captain Bharat Khawas and George Prince Karki in the front row. Similarly, Jagjit Shrestha, playing in Australia, was played in the midfield.

In the first 20 minutes, the army put pressure on the police but could not create an opportunity to score. In the 10th minute, George Prince Karke’s shot from about 30 yards came off the post. In the 13th minute, Army captain Bharat Khawas made a header on George Prince’s cross from inside the penalty box.

Police could not create any chance to score in the first half. In the 18th minute, Suman Lama struck from a distance of about 25 yards and the ball jumped off the post. Police goalkeeper Shatrughan Choudhary saved the ball from a distance of about 30 yards from Seshahang Angdambe of Army.
