Box Office: ‘Thor’ earns Rs 60 lakh in Nepal but ‘Dokh’ has a weak opening

Kathmandu. Marvel Studios’ Hollywood film ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ has earned well in the first weekend at the Nepalese box office. According to Apple Entertainment, the film earned Rs 60 lakh from 42 screens across the country on Friday and Saturday.

The Chris Hemsworth starrer had 100 per cent opening occupancy at multiplexes on Friday morning. The film has got a weekend of three days due to Sunday being a holiday.

The film is estimated to have earned over Rs 9 million in three days. The occupancy of the hall, which is also being performed on Sundays, stands at 80 per cent. Since it is the long-awaited sequel to Hollywood superhero ‘Thor’, the audience was waiting for it too.

This weekend has not been pleasant for the domestic film. Despite getting good reviews, the opening of the film ‘Dokh’, directed by Anoop Baral, was very weak. Leading multiplex chain QFX has given only one show to ‘Dokh’ on Monday.

Multiplexes have reduced the number of shows in the film within three days of its release. Although the film received good reviews from the artistic side stating that it was made into an original story, weak earnings have propelled the future of the film. The film’s opening is expected to be affected due to weak star cast and publicity.
