Chitwan's fourth consecutive win in EPL

17 September, Kathmandu. Chitwan Tigers have secured their fourth consecutive win in the Bajaj Pulsar Everest Premier League (EPL) 2021. Maintaining an unbeaten run, Chitwan, led by Sompal Kami, beat defending champions Lalitpur Patriots by five wickets on Sunday.

Chitwan is on top with 8 points after fourth consecutive win. Chitwan had already reached the playoffs. This is Lalitpur’s third defeat after playing all five matches in the league stage. Lalitpur are at 4th position with 3 points from 5 matches. But fifth-placed Kathmandu Kings XI still have two games to play, so even if they win just one game, Lalitpur will be out of the league stage.

Chitwan completed the target of 109 runs set by Lalitpur at the TU ground of Kirtipur for the loss of 5 wickets in 17.2 overs.

For Chitwan, Mohammad Shahzad scored 35 runs in 28 balls with the help of four fours and two sixes. Similarly, Bhim Sarki added 27 runs in 22 balls with 3 fours and 1 six. When Bhirandip Singh scored 13, Kharak Bohra got out for zero and Karim Jannat was out for one.

Dilip Nath scored an unbeaten 16 off 16 balls. Rajesh Pulmi Magar remained unbeaten on 6 runs.

Lalitpur’s Ajmatullah Omerzai and Rezan Dhaka took two wickets each while Yogendra Singh Karki took one wicket.

Batting first after winning the toss, Lalitpur scored 108 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. For Lalitpur, Jayakisan Kolsawa scored 42 runs in 33 balls with the help of two fours and three sixes. Sandun Birkodi scored 14 runs while Surya Tamang added 11 not out. The rest of the players could not add runs in double digits.

In the bowling, Kamal Ari of Chitwan took 3 wickets for 11 runs in 4 overs with 4 maidens. Similarly, Sagar Dhakal and Karim Jannat took 2-2 wickets. Sagar scored only 14 runs in 4 overs while Jannat scored 24 runs in 4 overs.
