December 27, Kathmandu. In the first match of Shaheed Memorial A Division League played on Monday, Sankat Club defeated Nepal Police Club to occupy the fourth position.
Defender Neeraj Basnet scored the goal while Sankata Club beat Nepal Police Club 1-0. Crisis remained unbeaten for four games, while Police suffered their first defeat in the league.
Neeraj Basnet gave the crisis an edge in the 18th minute of the match played at the Dashrath Stadium in Tripura. Neeraj scored a goal from inside the penalty box on Laxman Ruchal’s corner through a diving head. This is the 50th goal of the current league.
This is Neeraj’s third goal this season. Earlier he had scored against Friends Club and Manang Mersiangdi Club. He is the leading scorer along with Ajay Martins of Satdobato and Sunil Bal of Machindra.
At the end of the first half, the police had a chance to level. Suman Lama’s acrobatic shot was saved by goalkeeper Raja Babu Thapa in the 43rd minute.
In the second half, both the teams had some chances to score but could not finish it. In the second half, Bharat Shah and Sankat Uttam Rai of the police missed the chance to score.
After the second win, Sankat has moved up to the fourth position with 8 points from 4 matches. Despite the army having the same number, the crisis is still behind in the goal difference. Police, having suffered the first loss, are in seventh place with 5 points from 4 matches.
