Demonstration in Biratnagar after the death of a prisoner in police custody

twenty first August, Biratnagar. After the loss of life of an individual within the custody of District Police Office Morang, kin and locals staged a sit-in in Biratnagar. Bhim Kamat, 37, of Biratnagar Metropolitan City-11, arrested with hashish, died in custody on Monday.

Kamat, who was arrested with ganja on Friday, died on Sunday afternoon. The household opposed this saying that he died because of the torture of the police.

The deceased has accidents on each legs. Relatives and locals protested by burning tires and stated that he died because of police torture. He has demanded an inquiry into the incident.

On Friday, the police arrested Kamat with 3 kg 480 grams of ganja. He was making ready to proceed with the investigation on Sunday. However, DSP Deepak Shrestha of Morang District Police Office stated that Kamat was taken to Koshi Hospital for therapy. He died within the hospital at round 1.30 pm on Sunday.
