29 December, Kathmandu. Chelsea, which is in a bad state this season, lost to Fulham in the English Premier League. Chelsea lost 2–1 to home side Fulham in the West London derby match.
Former Chelsea midfielders William and Vinicius scored to seal the win at home to Fulham. Kalidou Kouliwali of Chelsea scored a goal.
Willian scored in the 25th minute of the match played at Craven Cottage in London on Thursday night to give Fulham a 1-0 lead in the first half. His shot from inside the penalty box deflected off Tivoh Chalova and turned in a beautiful goal.
Kalidou Koulivali scored a goal in the 47th minute to level the match at 1-1.
Chelsea were reduced to 10 players in the 72nd minute of the game. This week, Portuguese forward Joao Felix, who joined Chelsea on loan from Spanish club Atlético Madrid, left the field after receiving a red card in his first match.
Referee David Cote challenged Tite and sent him off with a straight red card after he had cleared the ball.
Then Vinicius surprised Chelsea by scoring 2-1 in the 73rd minute. He managed to make out Andreas Pereira’s pass.
With this win, Fulham have reached the sixth position with 31 points from 19 matches. Defeated Chelsea are in 10th place with 25 points from 18 matches. The back-to-back defeats are eroding Chelsea’s chances of breaking into the top four.
Fulham in good shape
The victory was very important to Fulham’s supporters. His enthusiasm about the last city was spectacular. After defeating Chelsea, Fulham coach Silva said, ‘Chelsea is a good team. They are a great team. Their economic condition is very different from ours. We cannot compare with them.
He said earlier, ‘It was a very important night. It was very special for our supporters. The joy they celebrated after the referee’s last whistle is very important.
‘Our players are doing very well this season. But we know, we’re in the middle of the season right now. We can do better’, said coach Silva.
