Flood in Dang Basti: Police station also flooded, road jam

According to Rajan Gautam, spokesman and DSP of District Police Office Dang, villages of Rapti Rural Municipality Ward No. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 of Dekhuri area were submerged in water. The Dolai river has flooded in Sisahaniya and the local police office has also been submerged. According to DSP Gautam, 3-4 feet of water has accumulated in the local police office.

He said that the work of draining the frozen water and rescuing the flood affected families is going on. A team including the Chief District Officer and the District Police Chief has gone to the area for on-the-spot surveillance.

According to the police, the Lamhi-Ghorahi road section has been blocked due to a landslide at Beldamar. Police said the Kalakaate-Bhalubang, Bhalubang-Pyuthan and Amelia-Lamhi road sections were also blocked by landslides. The journey has become difficult due to floods in the steep rivers on the Kalakaate-Gahwa road section.

Due to lack of proper drainage system, some houses have been submerged in the Sai Mandir area near the traffic intersection of Headquarters Ghorhi. According to the police, the work of extracting water is going on with the help of local public representatives.
