23 September, Kathmandu. Germany defeated Romania in a World Cup qualifier on Friday night.
Germany reversed the one-goal gap after beating Romania 2–1 in Group J.
Iannis Hagi scored in the ninth minute to give Romania the lead. Sergei Zinabari equalized for Germany in the 52nd minute. Thomas Merler scored the winning goal for Germany in the 81st minute.
Germany are at the top of Group J with 18 points from seven matches. Romania is fourth with 10 points from the same game. In the second match of the same group, North Macedonia defeated Liechtenstein 4–0. Iceland and Armenia have drawn 1-1. North Macedonia is in second place with 12 points.
In a similar Group G match, the Netherlands beat Latvia 1–0. Davy Klaasen scored the only goal for the Netherlands.
The Netherlands are at the top of Group G with 16 points from seven matches. Norway and Turkey have tied 1-1 in the second match. Norway is second with 14 points and Turkey is third with 12 points.
In Group H, Croatia beat Cyprus 3-0, Slovenia beat Malta 4-0 and Russia beat Slovakia 1-0.
Croatia are at the top with 16 points from seven matches, while Russia is second with the same number of points. Slovenia is in third place with 10 points.
