7 October, Biratnagar. The meeting of the State Legislative Assembly of State 1 has been adjourned till November 30. The Provincial Assembly Secretariat issued a notice on Sunday afternoon saying that the meeting has been adjourned.
A statement issued by the provincial assembly secretariat said the meeting was adjourned because the main opposition Nepali Congress and the ruling party CPN-UML had filed a petition seeking adjournment of the meeting.
The agenda of Sunday’s meeting was to discuss and divide the trust vote on the no-confidence motion moved by Chief Minister Bhim Acharya in the state assembly on Friday. But during the trust vote, the Congress demanded that today’s meeting be adjourned after some of its MPs signaled to cross the floor. Similarly, the UML had also requested the Speaker to postpone the meeting of the Provincial Assembly till October 30 as the party’s Palika Sammelan and Party Committee meetings are going on.
Acharya was appointed as the Chief Minister on 26 August.
