25-year-old Zaid Alam lost the mayoral post in the last local election. Zaid, who lost in the election for the post of mayor of Rajpur municipality, has now been elected a member of the provincial assembly.

While Zaid got 13 thousand 532 votes, his nearest rival independent candidate Nagendra Sinha got 6 thousand 872 votes. Former minister Zaid won by 6 thousand 660 votes. He is the son of Mushtaq Alam.
