8 November, Surkhet. Bindaman Bista of the CPN-Maoist Center has won the Surkhet Constituency No. 2 of the State Assembly (2). He defeated Tarkeshar Gautam of CPN-UML by a margin of 4,575 votes.
Bista got a total of 31 thousand 682 votes and got 13 thousand 909 votes while his rival UML’s Gautam got 9 thousand 334 votes. Samyukta Samajwadi’s Mohansingh Baduwal, who stood against Bista, got 6,214 votes.
In the election of Bista 074, he won from this area by 15 thousand 648 votes. Bista, who is also the former finance minister of the Karnali state government, has been claiming himself to be the future chief minister on behalf of the Maoist centre.
He is also the commander of the Surkhet jailbreak. Bista was born in Kalikot in the year 2036 during the people’s war started by the Maoists from his student days. Presently he is a permanent resident of Barhatal Rural Municipality-1 of Surkhet.
A graduate in Humanities and Political Science, Bista is known among the Maoists as an honest, conscientious and intelligent leader.
