Kathmandu. Manchester City beat former champions Liverpool 3-2 to enter the quarter-finals of the English League Cup (EFL).
Nathan Ake scored the decisive goal to give City a home win on Thursday night.
Earlier, when City had taken the lead twice, Liverpool had equalised.
Arlene Holland took the lead for City in the 10th minute. Fabio Carvalho equalized for Liverpool in the 20th minute.
Riyad Maharaj gave City the lead again in the 47th minute. But exactly one minute later, Mohamed Salah of Liverpool equalised.
Then in the 58th minute, AK scored the decisive goal for City.
City will now face Southampton in the quarter-finals.
Similarly, Manchester United will play against third-tier Charlton Athletic, while the Premier League’s Nottingham Forest & Wolves and Newcastle and Leicester City will clash in the quarter-finals.
