9 Manseer, Kathmandu. Nepal has made a ‘clean sweep’ of gold in all the four competitions of Circuit-2 under the Kathmandu-Asian Under-14 Ranking Tennis Championships.
In both the boys/girls singles finals on Thursday, a Nepalese player topped the chart and made a ‘clean sweep’ of gold. On Wednesday, Nepalese pair topped the boys/girls doubles.
Nepal’s Sakshal Bikram Shah defeated Nepal’s Darsheel Shrestha 6-1, 6-0 in the boys’ singles final of the tournament organized by the Nepal Tennis Association. Pakistan’s Amir Muhammad Khan Mazari and India’s Siddharth Jibu finished joint third.
Nepal’s Sunira Thapa defeated Nepal’s Prasanna Muktan 6-4, 7-6(3) in the girls’ singles final held at Satdobato Tennis Complex. Nepal’s Ada Poudel and American Nala Josephine Maski came third. Saksham and Sunira became the champions in the singles of Circuit 1 held last year. Both of them won gold in doubles of that circuit.
Earlier Saksham and Darsheel had participated in boys’ doubles and Sunira and Prasanna had won in girls’ doubles. The winners were felicitated by Nepal Tennis Association Vice President Keshav Raj Pandey, Competition Director and Tennis Association member Ajay Bista. In the five-day tournament, 33 players from Nepal, India, Pakistan and the US competed in four events.
