No need to threaten to make porn videos viral to ask for money!

Kathmandu. It’s been 10 years since I used social media. For the first time in such a long time I have become a victim of such incident and criminal mentality. I am sharing this information so that other youths like me do not become victims.

Since the public is active in politics, I accept Facebook friend requests from most of the people I know. On Saturday, a girl named ‘Priyanka Rao’ received a friend request on Facebook. In general, it does not look like a fake profile.

I accepted the friend request as usual. Without any generic introduction, he asked me for my ‘WhatsApp number’. Since my mobile number is public on all social networks including websites and Facebook pages, I felt comfortable in it. I also gave my WhatsApp number.

After a few minutes, a call came from a new number on WhatsApp. I picked it up yesterday. Here is the video call. The 21-year-old girl on the screen began to undress. She was looking naked. For a moment I couldn’t think of anything. For the first time in my life such incident was happening to me.

It is not yet known what he will do after leaving office. I stopped the video and immediately disconnected the call.

Along with the call cut, some messages came in which I was offered to call again. I agreed. Until then, I thought it was an attempt by a young woman with a strong sexual desire. I was confused as to where I am stuck.

Within no time a video came on WhatsApp. I opened it. The video was recently created by combining a 1-minute video call and a 50-second masturbation video of someone I don’t know, including my name and mobile number. Another message came while watching the video. The message was, ‘It takes money to delete a video, if you don’t pay, the video goes viral!’

The whole incident happened within about 15 minutes. Now I keep getting threatening messages, pay within 5 minutes at home, 10 minutes at home, otherwise the video becomes viral. As of now, he has the details of about 5,000 friends of mine on Facebook. They were threatening to edit the video and send it to everyone.

My mood suddenly became so weak that I was not able to decide what to do and what not to do. I was able to answer them. He kept saying, “You don’t care about your reputation?”

By then I had understood that this incident was deliberate. They gave me the account number of Ace Bank of India and asked me to deposit Rs 21,000. You can’t send money from Nepal, if you need money I wrote 1 week. Not being able to decide what to do at such a time, I had no option but to extend the time. However, he said that the money of other people was recovered from Nepal only yesterday. And he said, ‘You have 24 hours.’

I woke up the next morning after the incident and called a friend from Delhi and told him about the incident. He told another close friend that a similar criminal gang had blackmailed him last week, extorted lakhs of rupees and finally released a video.

He said that he is not the only one to be affected by such incidents. Got some relief. He also said that various gangs were active in India and blackmailing youth with public image in Nepal. It gave me more strength. With this I sent a message that whatever I will do to give them money, I will file a complaint with the Cyber Bureau under Nepal Police.

Because I had a bank account with him, a phone pay account. That is, the personal number with which I am chatting on WhatsApp. After so much information, it happened to me that the police can find out in any case. However, he claimed that the police could not find him under any circumstances. Said, ‘All the information given on bank, phone pe, whatsapp is fake.’

As soon as he got such an answer, I also imagined him. All this is happening from India. How can the police find it? Simultaneously, I began to feel that the best option was to accept the challenge rather than succumb to it. Even if I made the video public, I told him not to pay.

That’s why I made the complete information about this incident public on my Facebook wall so that everyone can know. So that it also works for general public awareness. Nothing else has happened to the gang since then. The message was not exchanged. Although this video has not been made public yet. But, in the end one of the messages he sent said that I am very upset.

“There are a lot of groups like ours who are doing this,” he said. It may sound small, but its message is huge. When I am a victim of this incident today, it cannot be said that there will be no Nepali again tomorrow.

Therefore, it is important to adopt the safety method to be adopted while using social media. If left unmanaged, they can go astray and lose the correct route. The idea is clear.

I, along with Nepal Police, information technology friends from Nepal and ethical hackers from the international community, will try to nab this gang and bring it to justice.

You are safe!
