Pfizer and BioNTech's 'Booster Dose' is about 96 percent effective


8 October, Kathmandu. The vaccine against 1,620 doses of Corona announced by the United States of America as a grant to Nepal is reaching Nepal today.

The Pfizer Vaccine provided by the United States of America is coming to Nepal today.

Earlier, the US had provided 15.34 million doses of corona vaccine to Nepal from Johnson & Johnson.

Pfizer will be the fourth vaccine to be used in Nepal. AstraZeneca, Verocell and Johnson & Johnson vaccines have been used in Nepal before.

According to the US Centers for Disease Control, the Pfizer vaccine jointly developed by American company Pfizer and German company BioEntech will be effective in the age group of 12 years and above. Research has shown that the vaccine given in two doses over a period of one month is 95 percent effective.

Health ministry spokesman Krishan Prasad Poudel said the vaccine would be given to long-term patients as it was in small doses. The United States is preparing to bring in an additional 6 million doses of Pfizer vaccine next December. The government is ready to vaccinate children after vaccination.

Pfizer Vaccine should be stored at a temperature of minus 70 °C. Four refrigerators have already been brought to Nepal for storage of this vaccine through UNICEF.

Under the Covax facility, 120,000 doses of the vaccine can be stored in a refrigerator that has been brought to Nepal through UNICEF.
