PNG set UAE a target of 235 runs

1 Chait, Kathmandu. Papua New Guinea PNG set UAE a target of 235 runs in their last match of the ICC Cricket World Cup League Two.

After winning the toss and electing to bat at the Trivi Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, PNG scored 234 runs losing seven wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. PNG captain Arshad Bhala top-scored with 65 runs. He has hit 6 fours and 1 six in 95 balls.

Bhala, who came into bat after scoring 22 runs and losing two wickets, gave PNG an edge. He shared a 53-run partnership with Charles Amini for the fourth wicket.

Before that, Bhala shared a 41-run partnership for the third wicket with Kiplin Doriga.

Opener Doriga was dismissed for 24 and Amini scored 22 runs. Another opener Hiri Hiri was caught by wicketkeeper Valthapa after scoring 4 runs off Hazrat Vilal. Third-order batsman Sese Bau could not score even in double figures. Bau was caught out after scoring 9 runs in 15 balls.

Gaudi Toca scored 15 runs. Riley Hekure, who batted aggressively, scored 33 runs in 22 balls and was run out. Bowling all-rounder Noman Bhanuva, who came to bat at seventh position, scored 49 runs off 31 balls and remained unbeaten. Ninth batter Chad Soper was hitless.
