26 February, Kathmandu. Papua New Guinea has set a target of 247 runs against UAE in the second match of the final series under the ICC Cricket World Cup League Two.
After losing the toss in Kirtipur, PNG scored 246 runs with the help of half-centuries from three batsmen.
Kiplin Doriga, Hiri Hiri and Sese Bau scored half-centuries for PNG. Hiri Hiri and Bau also completed the century partnership. Excellent start for PNG. For that Doriga scored 55 runs in 44 balls with the help of 8 fours and 2 sixes adding 71 runs in the power play.
Cese Bau opened for PNG after regular opener Tony Ura was injured during the warm-up. He shared a century partnership of 112 runs for the second wicket with Hiri Hiri, who came at number three. At the end of 30 overs, PNG had scored a total of 180 runs losing 1 wicket.
However, PNG continued to lose wickets in the 32nd over after UAE’s Eoin Afzal Khan picked up wickets in successive deliveries. Hirihiri, who had the best batting performance of his ODI career, scored 77 runs in 85 balls with the help of 5 fours and 4 sixes. PNG could only add 66 runs in the last 20 overs losing 8 wickets.
Sese Bau, who came to open, remained unbeaten after scoring 81 runs. He hit 10 fours in 106 balls. In bowling, UAE’s young spinner Ayan Khan took 3 wickets by giving 3 maidens in 10 overs for 34 runs. Junaid Siddiqui took 2 wickets for 39 runs by giving 1 maiden in 9 overs. Jahor Khan took 2 wickets for 49 runs in 7 overs. Rohan Mustafa, Karthik Meiyappan took one wicket each.
