Revolutionary Maoist activist who opposed MCC arrested

August 24, Kathmandu. CPN-revolutionary Maoist cadres have been arrested in protest in opposition to the American assist mission Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

Over 35 folks have been arrested at a rally in Koteshwar to protest the arrival of MCC Vice President Fatima Sumar and Assistant Vice President Jonathan Brooks in Nepal.

Those arrested embrace CPN (Revolutionary Maoist) politburo member and Secretary of Province No. 3 Suresh Shrestha, All Nepal Trade Union Federation (Krantikari) President Ishwar Timalsina, General Secretary Basant Bogti and Krantikari Youth League President Akash Maharjan. Those arrested have been stored in Nepal Police Club Bhrikutimanda.

Revolutionary Maoist General Secretary Mohan Baidya has issued an announcement opposing the incident. “Our party strongly condemns the repression and arrest of protesters who came to Nepal to protest against the abolition of MCC and implementation of MCC,” the assertion stated.
