Samjhauta Cup International Table Tennis Tournament will be held in January



8 November, Kathmandu. The ‘4th Memorial Cup International Table Tennis Tournament’ is scheduled to be held next January under the aegis of the Lalitpur Table Tennis Club and the management of Spin Events.

Organizers told in a press conference on Wednesday that the international level competition will be held from January 12 to 15 at the National Table Tennis Training Center, Lanchaur.

According to the organisers, players from Nepal, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, UAE and Korea will participate in the tournament. The competition is being organized under the aegis of All Nepal Table Tennis Federation under the annual program.

The main sponsor of the competition is Samjhauta Laboratory Clinic Pvt. On Wednesday, the organizers have also entered into an agreement with the main sponsor.

The agreement was signed by Lalitpur Table Tennis Club President Urdeep Joshi and Pact Laboratory Director Rajna Shrestha Joshi.

Sponsor will provide half of the total budget of the Contest for sponsorship.

The organizer said that with a total budget of Rs 2.15 lakh, the sponsors would provide Rs 1.075 crore and the remaining amount would be recovered from the other sponsors.

Organizing Club President Urdeep Joshi said that it will be important not only to win sports medals and make a name but also to improve the society.

The competition will be held in seven categories including men’s and women’s team events, men’s and women’s singles, over 40 age group and over 45 age group (men).

The league games will be played on the basis of best of 5 and knockout matches will be played on the basis of best of 7. The winners, runners-up and third place winners of men’s and women’s team events and men’s and women’s singles will get Rs 50,000, Rs 25,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.

Similarly, the winners, runners-up and third place winners from the veterans will be given Rs 10,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 2,500 respectively.
