August 27, Kathmandu. Tharu Samaj is celebrating Atwari at this time. Tharu neighborhood celebrates this pageant on the primary Sunday of Shukla Paksha after Krishna Ashtami in August.

According to Kulbir Choudhary, Associate Professor, Mahendra Multipurpose Complex Dang, Atwari is the largest pageant of Tharu neighborhood after Maghi and Dashain. The Tharu communities of Dang, Banke, Bardiya, Kailali, Kanchanpur and different districts rejoice this pageant of particular significance. Local governments present public holidays to the Tharu neighborhood on the event of the Atwari pageant.

In this pageant particularly brothers maintain quick all through the day and worship Bhima within the night and want their sisters lengthy life. It is customary to eat the leftover flour of sisters after fasting after consuming dishes product of wheat flour and fruits. The half put aside for sisters is known as ‘aggression’. Dang chief of Nepali Congress Yogendra Chaudhary stated that Atwari pageant shall be celebrated with good needs of brothers and sisters. “Atwari is considered to be a celebration of love, affection, harmony and brotherhood among sisters, brothers and neighbours,” Choudhary stated.
