UML convention: candidate lost from Oli in Arjundhara

14 October, Jhapa. In the CPN-UML Municipal Conference of Jhapa’s Arjundhara Municipality, a candidate close to party president KP Sharma Oli has to face defeat.

The candidate Loknath Gautam, supported by district leaders Devendra Dahal, Prem Giri and Chintan Pathak, lost near Oli.

The opposition candidate Baldev Gomden won the election by 117 votes. Gomden, who had earlier favored Madhav Nepal, was elected by the UML after the split of the party. Oli-backed candidate Gautam got 102 votes.

Gomden is presently the Ward President of Ward No. 10 and Gautam is the Ward President of Ward No. 10.

Lokman Shrestha defeated Khagendra Ignam for the post of Vice President. IGNUM got 78 votes while Shrestha got 141 votes.

Sarita Bhandari won the post of Deputy Secretary. Sarita Bhandari defeated Kamal Devi Bhandari by 30 votes.

While Kamal Devi got 95 votes, Sarita got 125 votes. Earlier, Lavkush Gautam was unanimously elected as the secretary.

UML has already organized conferences in 5 out of 15 local levels of JHAPA. Of these, elections were held in Arjundhara and Bhadrapur, while the unanimous leadership elections were held in Gauriganj, Damak and Kamal villages.
