Under-19 national cricket: Brilliant win for Karnal



8 November, Kathmandu. Karnali Pradesh made a winning start in the YYU-19 Men’s National Cricket Tournament after excelling in batting like Subhash Air and bowling.

In the match played at Kirtipur Cricket Ground on Wednesday, Karnali defeated Lumbini by a huge margin of 140 runs.

Chasing Karnali’s target of 233 runs, Lumbini was all out for 92 runs in 23.5 overs.

For Lumbini, Prajwal Thapa top-scored with 28 while Durgesh Gupta and Akash Tripathi scored 20 and 15 respectively.

Prakash Jaishi was the highest wicket-taker for Lumbini with five wickets. He scored 43 runs in 9 overs.

Similarly, Unish Singh took 3 and Anuj Chunara took 2 wickets. Earlier Karnali decided to bat first and scored 232 runs in the allotted 50 overs for the loss of 8 wickets.

Subhash Air scored 76 runs for Karnali. He hit 9 fours and 3 sixes in 90 balls. Captain Nischal Rawal played 99 balls and scored 44 runs with the help of 5 fours.

Despite losing 2 wickets for 39 runs, Subhash and Nischal shared a 122-run partnership for the third wicket. Similarly, Bipin Rawal and Prakash Jayasi contributed 32 and 25 runs respectively.

Durgesh Gupta took 4 wickets for Lumbini, while Vishal Bikram KC took 2 wickets. Mohammad Hossain and Wasir Ahmed took a wicket each.

Lumbini had defeated Gandaki Pradesh by 9 wickets in the first match on Tuesday.
