We have prepared for good results: Coach Maharjan

7 October, Kathmandu. Nepal Under-23 national football team head coach Bala Gopal Maharjan said that despite less preparation, the AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers will bring good results.

Nepal begins its journey in the AFC U-23 Asian Cup Qualifier against Iran on Monday. Speaking at the pre-match conference on Sunday ahead of the Group B match, head coach Maharjan said that the team is ready for a good result.

“We had very little time but we are ready,” he said. We were able to train as a team only for a few weeks.

Now, he says, the team is effective. He also said that all the three opposition groups of Nepal’s group are good and will try to bring good results.

‘You see, all three of our opposites are qualitative. We have to accept the reality and we are ready for a good outcome,” said Maharaj. I will try my best.

Along with Nepal are Iran, Tajikistan and Lebanon in Group B. In the first match of the group stage, Nepal will play Iran on Monday, the second match against Tajikistan on 28 October and the last match against Lebanon on 31 October.

Similarly, Nepalese team captain and goalkeeper Arpan Karki said that the team was well prepared and it was time to test the ability.

Ahead of the selection, Nepal had lost 2-0 to Indonesia’s Under-23 team in a friendly match on Friday.
